Pumpkin season

Pumpkin season

Most states have seasonality in the fall months. The three major productions in the United States are Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The long pumpkin season in Illinois takes place from August till November. Pumpkin season in Indiana is in September and October and in Ohio in for a month longer, till November.

Our Halloween symbol and autumn delight, pumpkins are the best veggie to cook, decorate and make our house a cozy home in the first cold fall evenings. They are also very easy to grow in our own garden! Try a few seeds next time you have some over and wait for some months… the plant is also beautiful and the flowers are edible too.

Pumpkins health benefits

Besides being delicious, pumpkins are also nutritious. They are high in vitamins (great to keep our immune system strong during the cold months!) and like an orange veggie, they contain Vitamin E and beta-carotene (great for your eyes and skin). Great source of fiber, potassium, and antioxidants, it’s perfect to replace potato when you want to get more nutrients for lower calories and still prepare a winter meal rich in (good) carbs.
