Pineapple season is between April and September. The only American state where pineapples are cultivated is Hawaii (which in the past was the biggest producer in the world).
You can consume pineapples imported from the Philippines, Brazil, and Costa Rica. Because pineapples don’t ripe after harvested, it’s best is to eat those produced as close as possible.
Take care of picking the right pineapple at the grocery store! This one shall have a distinctive sweet smell and be a bit mushy in the top part.

Pineapple health benefits
Pineapples contain bromelain, a combination of enzymes that is practically magical. It breaks down proteins, helping your digestion, especially in those with pancreatic insufficiency.
It’s an incredible natural anti-inflammatory that helps people with arthritis, those recovering after surgery, or just after your daily sport. Bromelain may stimulate cell death in certain cancer cells and aid white blood cell function.
To top it up, it’s full of manganese (good for your bones) and beta carotene (which is needed to take care of your eyes). Last but not least, the high content of potassium will help you reduce your blood pressure.
